This Throw Back Thursday move happened last month. This was a Burnaby to Burnaby move. Our office is located in Burnaby. We enjoy meeting people from the City of Burnaby. We get many clients that downsize and move to the Tri-Cities so it is nice to see our clients stay within the same area.
The picture above does not justify the beautiful upright piano our client had. Of course this one was padded and wrapped up and ready to be transport. It takes a lot of patience, knowledge, and experience to move upright and especially grand pianos. It is always important to double check with clients if they have past piano moving experience.
Our client was downsizing and she was a SWEETHEART! I can't even begin to share how sweet and hardworking she is!! Her house had a lot furniture but she was prepared and had everything packed. That is why her actual move duration was almost half of the estimated quote.
When you work with Kleiner Services, we bill by the hour for the actual hours worked plus the travel time to and from the site. Rarely do we get asked for a flat rate and we don't usually provide flat rates. This move was a very good example. If we had quoted our client 8 hours for her move with 3 movers and it was completed in half the time, we would not feel honourable to keep the difference.
If the move goes over the quote duration our team will always follow up with the client on how to proceed. This way it is fair for both parties and we can identify the problem areas. We also state in our quote that we work until the job is completed or until the client says the job is done. This statement is for clients that may require additional services that we provide that was not originally requested for. Since the team is already on site and if approved by the client, they will continue to assist the client. Additional services that may be asked are junk removal, assembly of new furniture, or a quick delivery or pick up of additional furniture.
Moving Tip. It is great when our clients have possession of both places. This allows the client to move all the little things that can't really be packed. It also allows them to see where their furniture from their old living environment can be placed in their new home. If the client is able to prepare and box the little things a head of time will always make the move duration quicker but also run more smoothly. It is always easier to stack boxes than garbage bags or squared shaped furniture than round glass pieces.
